Some FAQ about me
Q: How can you still look so young and fresh even though you’re 40+?
A: I don’t have kids, plus twice a year I sacrifice an incel to the old gods.
Q: What is your day job?
A: I work in finance, disappointingly enough.
Q: Did you publish on your own?
A: Yes, I used Books on Demand (bod.se) to publish as I was tired dealing with rejections. I told myself enough was enough and sometimes if you want something done, you just have to do it yourself.
Q: Do you have any tips for other authors that want to self-publish?
A: YES! There are two things that people that do self-publishing scrimp on.
The first one is editing. I knew from the start that I needed to hire an actual editor. Trust me, friends might want to read your script, but you cannot expect them to edit it for free. They also have lives and work to deal with. A professional editor is worth the cost several times over, why risk printing a book with your name on it only to find mistakes in the final printed copy? I used https://cherryedits.com, Claire is a 10/10 in my book, I will get back to her when my next book is ready for the editing stage.
The second thing people scrimp on is the cover. Now I understand you feel like the writing should speak for itself, but let’s be honest here, people DO judge books by their covers, no matter how the saying goes. Yes, you can create some ok looking thing in Canva, but an actual designer will have so much more insight in what makes a cover great. I have got so many compliments on mine for “The Child of Goodness”, and I will never regret spending that money. Luckily for me, I already knew a great designer who could do the work (don’t worry, she got paid!), but if you don’t happen to know a designer, please have a look online. There are plenty of great young graphic designers doing freelance work that might want to build their portfolio out with some book cover work. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THOUGH, YOU SHOULD STILL PAY THEM! A student designer will of course be cheaper, but do not insult them (or me) by asking them to work for exposure, it’s embarrassing and greedy AF. I used my dear friend Jemima for the cover and the map in TCoG, https://cosmicdove.co/ 10/10 recommend if you want someone more experienced.
Q: Did you use AI writing your book?
A: No and I’m frankly insulted every time I get this question. Just because you’re too dumb to form sentences and paragraphs without AI, it doesn’t mean I am. I have used AI to help me figure out complicated excel formulas in my finance job, but I will never use AI in ANY of my creative pursuits. That is straight up stealing from other authors and artists. I can guarantee that all of my writing, old as well as new, is and will forever be AI free. That includes editing work and book covers.
Q: How come you write in English even though you’re Swedish?
A: I lived in London for 14 years and have therefore collected many friends that don’t speak Swedish. Because I want to maximise praise, I decided to write in English to spread my written words wider.
Q: Is your surname English?
A: No, its German.
Q: What are you working on right now?
A: Some lesbian action in Dalarna in the summer of 1910. Stay tuned!
